MARS LANDER Instructions and Help The object is to land your ship on one of the three landing pads gently enough that you do not crash. The Catch is that you have a limited amount of fuel, and with each successful landing the amount of fuel you start with for your next descent will be reduced. As you prepare to land there are buildings that get in your way. Your score is determined by multiple factors. The most important of these is which pad you land on. The landing pads are worth (respectively, from left to right) 1,000, 500, and 1,500 base points. From this base value some modifications are made. First, there is a penalty subtracted from the base value for the amount of fuel that you used to set the lander down safely. Once the new number is determined, a multiplier which depends on the level of difficulty you were on at the time is factored in. In general, the way to the highest scores is to land on the toughest pad possible, using the least amount of fuel possible, and doing so until you reach the really high levels so that the multiplier makes the scores worth a lot more.
